What to see in Tarfaya

To have the opportunity to visit Morocco arriving by ferry it is something that certainly adds value to the island of Fuerteventura ; for its tourists of course, but also for Canarian residents, with this new connection it adds something new to your list of leisure activities on the canarian islands. I mention this again because, before the Fuerteventura -Tarfaya connection existed in 2008 , but unfortunately the trip had a short existence, after been active for  four  months , it ended up suspended .

 Just over an hour’s boat trip is what separates these two coasts and for those coming to Tarfaya for the first time it can be a bit impacting and could make you think… Is there anything else to do or to see? And the truth is that there is little or nothing there . Located to the south west of Morocco, there are 3 hotels and camping site , some dilapidated buildings as the Casa del Mar , a museum of a Spanish fort that dates back to 1930 and little more. That’s why more and more people venture to go with their own camper or rent, because this offers the advantage of reaching Tarfaya and initiate such routes towards the small town called  Akhfennir , located 87,6 kilometers away .
This can be a must-see destination for those who enjoy activities like fishing because it is listed among the best places in Morocco thanks to large specimens of fish that are captured on the coast, between rocks or from a boat. The next place to visit is Laayoune, 90 kilometers from Tarfaya .

What to see in Aaiun
It is a city that is divided into two parts by the dry river Saguia el Hamra; in the South there are vestiges of the era of Spanish colonization, so you can smell the story in the environment, a cathedral and a city of an old profile thats still standing . The Aaiun is a place to learn about the Moroccan culture , as it has several mosques like Al Whada , Moulay Abdel Aziz Mosque or Mosquée , although there are some shopping centers , parks and shops that extend through several streets where you can find Moroccan crafts, antiques and jewelry. A good opportunity to buy souvenirs in the area.There are also bus services and this city of around 200,000 inhabitants are well served , also it lends itself to walk the main streets safely.
If we move away a little of the city, we will find the marvelous desert with its dunes and beaches where the routine photo shoots by tourists is inevitable ; It is important to remember that even though the visit is made in winter, you should go properly equipped with drinking water , hat and a sunscreen because the sun is reflected on the sand literally burns regardless of the season . At night , it could seem like another city, as the streets are filled with a multitude of stalls offering everything from coffee to fast food .
