1- Flag Beach

Near from Corralejo, we’ve got this great beach. It is the main beach for kite surfing in Fuerteventura. There are clubs kites on the beach, rescue services, supplies, rentals and lessons. The sea is deep, and is mainly due to the reefs, so you must be careful at low tide.

2- Sotavento

If you’re looking for a lagoon, but with a strong wind, Sotavento is ideal. The area forms a large tide, and the beach is open to the sea. The wind direction is mainly sidelong, so the sea is not recommended for beginners.

The lagoon is shallow, but the wind comes in all directions. The wind blows, about 20 to 30 knots. The lagoon tends to fill in the new and full moon and that just occurs 2-3 weeks per month. The best time to practice is when the tide is high, it means, between noon and sunset.

3- El Cotillo

El Cotillo is a beautiful beach surrounded by a cliff. The wind is good when it takes the north or northwest. However, it can get strong (above 20 knots) sometimes.

4- Majanicho

This beautiful place has a complicated entry because of the sharp rocks. Sometimes the water is calm and other agitated in the inner bay. However, it has good waves on the outer reef. Not for beginners, and boots are recommended for the amount of sharp rocks.

Compared to other islands, Fuerteventura has a lot of beaches to practice freely, besides reefs. The most experienced kite-surfing achieve their kites put into the beach and in the sand.

Contrary to this, beginners should check the wind forecast, or take kite-surfing courses with a boat. In May and June, the sand is reduced due to winter swell. But, in July and August, the beaches have enough sand.
