When we talk about Fuerteventura we often relate it to beaches, water sports, hotels and swimming pools. However, there are many other different activities, beautiful and interesting places that you can meet and tour on the island.

In this post we will name three places little known by visitors but that are worth discovering.

"3 Sites of Fuerteventura that Maybe you did not Know"

Discover 3 Places of the Majorera Island

1-Puertito de los Molinos

The Puertito de los Molinos is the ideal place to take a sun-kissed respite, with the relaxing sound of the background waves. It is a small town located south of El Cotillo. A charming and little known place with a small beach that is generally little frequented. Some days the swell can be strong, so be careful when swimming.

It has a beautiful natural pool a little hidden behind the rocks, which can be enjoyed when the tide is low and, taking extreme care not to raise the tide, you can also reach the Cuevas de los Molinos. From here you will get a unique and amazing view.

2-Pinar de Betancuria

If you thought Fuerteventura is just desert you are wrong!! You can enjoy a day of hiking and hiking surrounded by Pinos Canarios. In the municipality of Betancuria is El Pinar de Betancuria, one of the greenest areas of the island. The reforestations carried out over almost 80 years turned the desert landscape of Fuerteventura into a forest where canary pine predominates.

You can go up to Betancuria by Antigua and stop at Morrovelosa viewpoint. From there continue to the Pinar de Betancuria until you reach the rest area, whose picnic area has all the facilities to spend a comforting day of rest breathing pure air.

3-The Barranco de los Enamorados or  Encantados

The Barranco de los Enamorados or Encantados is a particularly beautiful and different place. It is located in the Cañada de Melián in the municipality of La Oliva, north of the island.

The walls of this ravine measure about four meters at the highest points and are made of fragile sandstone, which melts when touched. The erosion caused by the rains and the winds over thousands of years, was creating and carving soft forms, endowing it with its present great beauty.

It is a site of great scientific, paleontological and cultural interest due to its eroded fossil dunes. It does not come on many maps, so if you do not know the place will not be so easy to get there. You can always ask the friendly locals and with their help you will surely find it. You can also join the tours organized by groups of local walkers.
