As long as you can enjoy the outdoors, no matter what time of year it is, make the most of your time at the beach and perfect your style every day. Here are some tips for you to keep in mind during your next session.

Surf: Learn these tricks and catch more waves

Surf and big waves

Constant communication is your ally

Maintaining the dialogue with the other surfers on the beach will help you to move better in the water, to move more safely and to maintain a coordination of movements on the waves together with the other surfers.

It is always helpful to know which way your colleague is going or if he is going for the same wave as you. This can avoid risky situations like hitting the boards or getting in the way of another surfer and losing that wave you’ve been waiting for so long.

Thoroughly investigate the spot you are going to go to

If you always go to the same beaches, surely you already have it more than clear, but if you decide to visit new places, before going directly to catch waves, it is good to investigate and know what dangers you may face. Again we emphasize that communication with the locals can provide you with very valuable information to know how to behave in the new spot.

Analyze the weather conditions and the type of waves. Try going at different times to determine which are the busiest times.

Know your board well and wear the right equipment

It is very important to have a surfboard, try different designs until you find the one that is suitable for your level and for the surf conditions you are going to face.

If you use an incorrect dimension chart or if your suit is not the size you need to wear, it can make it difficult for you to ride waves. If you are a beginner, try to learn everything you need about the qualities that your board should have and about the accessories that will help you perform optimally in the water.

Be on the lookout for all opportunities

Move in and out of the water. Do not stay still in one place, walk and explore the place. Find out where the best waves break and when you’re in the water, always keep your head up, good waves can come when you least expect them. If you learn to read the waves, the more waves you will catch.

Be patient and wait for the quality waves

Save energy, don’t be paddling all the time because you will end up exhausted and when a perfect wave appears you will not be able to face it to your full potential. Get plenty of rest, stretch before and after sessions, and eat a balanced diet.
