Second Hand Surfboard, why not?

-If you are a beginner surfer, the truth is that many times it is convenient to start practicing with a used board, but of course in good condition. If you start directly with a new board, you run the risk that it will last you very little. It may be knocked or dented or cracked within a few days of use.

-If your budget to spend on a new table is not very large, the option of buying a second-hand table is a good idea, especially if you are only going to use it a couple of times.

-When you choose a second-hand board, make sure it is the correct model to be able to start surfing. Ideally, the board has a greater volume to facilitate buoyancy and therefore, it will be easier for you to paddle and take off. The size should also be according to your height and weight.

-If you decide to get a second-hand table there is a large market on the internet such as Facebook groups that are exclusively dedicated to this, where you can get a good table at a reasonable price. Remember some tips when buying a used table:

The used board should retain its firmness, pressing down with both hands should not dented easily.

Check that it does not have cracks or bumps that suppose water entry. You will notice if it has any fixes for the color of the paint, the texture and the thickness, which will be different in the part where it was fixed. In general, the most common is that the boards break in the part of the keels or in the edges. Check those areas carefully.

Make sure it is the correct weight. If you notice that it is very heavy, it is likely that water has entered through a crack that has been concealed. This may indicate that it already has very little useful life left, and if it is very heavy, it will be difficult for you to paddle and stay afloat.

-Then, when you buy a new board you will already know how to handle yourself in and out of the water, and how you should take care of it so that it lasts intact for much longer!
